
Fair Housing Review Board
The Fair Housing Review Board was created in 1999 to prevent discriminatory and unlawful housing practices and to provide fair housing and the promotion of stable and balanced living patterns.
Discriminatory acts and unlawful housing practices violate the right of individuals to choose where to live. These practices interfere with the achievement of stable and balanced living patterns, thereby depriving the citizens of Worth Township of the benefits of interracial, interreligious, and intercultural association.
Worth Township Policy
It is the policy of Worth Township, in the exercise of its power, to regulate unfair discrimination for the protection of public health, safety, morals, and welfare, and to assure fair housing and freedom from discrimination throughout the Township.
This Board was formed to protect the community from residential segregation and discrimination based on race, color, sex, age, religion, disability, national origin, ancestry, marital or familial status, physical or mental disability, parental status, military status, source of income, sexual orientation, gender identity, housing status, Section 8 participation, and other protected characteristics.
Board Overview
The Fair Housing Review Board consists of three Worth Township residents appointed to three-year terms by the Supervisor, with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees.The Board includes a chairman, co-chairman, and member at large. It meets regularly to review and discuss issues related to fair housing and works closely with federal, state, and local agencies.
Through coordination, education, and information sharing, the Board supports the Township’s commitment to eliminating housing discrimination and promoting equal housing opportunities for all residents.
Fair Housing Policy
Worth Township conducts business in accordance with the Federal Fair Housing Laws.
It is illegal to discriminate against any person based on race, color, sex, age, religion, disability, national origin, ancestry, marital status, familial status, physical or mental disability, parental status, military status, military discharge status, source of income, sexual orientation, gender identity, housing status, Section 8 participation, or covered criminal history.
Discrimination is prohibited in:
- The sale or rental of housing on residential lots
- The appraisal of housing
- The provision of real estate brokerage services
- Advertising the sale or rental of housing
- The financing of housing
- Blockbusting practices
