WELCOME TO THE FAIR HOUSING REVIEW BOARD

The Fair Housing Review Board was created in 1999 to prevent discriminatory and unlawful housing practices and to provide fair housing and the promotion of stable and balanced living patterns.  Discriminatory acts and unlawful housing practices violate the right of individuals to choose where to live.  These practices interfere with the achievement of stable and balanced living patterns, thereby depriving the citizens of Worth Township of the benefits of interracial, interreligious, and intercultural association.

It is the policy of Worth Township, in the exercise of its power, to regulate unfair discrimination, for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare, to assure fair housing and freedom from discrimination throughout the Township.  This Board was formed to protect the community from the effects of residential segregation by race, color, sex, age, religion, disability, national origin, ancestry, marital status, familial status or physical or mental handicap, parental status, military status, military discharge status, source of income, sexual orientation, particular sex, social gender or gender identity, housing status, section 8/housing choice voucher holder, covered criminal history, and to secure its citizens the economic, social and professional benefits of living in a stable society.

The Fair Housing Review Board is comprised of three members who are residents of Worth Township.  Each member is appointed for a three-year term by the Supervisor with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees.  The Board consists of a chairman, co-chairman, and member at large.  The Board meets on a regular basis to review and discuss relevant issues pertaining to the continuing promotion and assurance of fair housing in Worth Township.

The Fair Housing Review Board coordinates its activities with federal, state, and local agencies.  The Board provides for the gathering and exchange of information relevant to fair housing practices within Worth Township.

Worth Township, along with the municipalities and unincorporated areas it serves, strives to meet the common goal of eliminating housing discrimination.
